Gods – I could devote a whole LJ just to these!
One of my editors recommended I use Lulu to set up a hardcopy version of my books. Right. First off I tried a large paperback format – the cost came out as £14! (Just don’t ask about the hardback cost!!!)
So I tried again, using coilbound in place of perfect bound (the latter is like paperbacks one buys in shops). £14 again. So I tried again and eventually got the cost down to under £10 perfectbound by boosting the page size up to A4. Ah well. I suppose it’s something.
Now it’s just a question of doing the same with the second novel…
Third book is now with the first editor, and I’m ploughing back through the umpteenth draft of the fourth book to ensure it’s in a perfect condition for editing. Then -at last - I can get back to revised the third or fourth draft of the fifth book.
Meanwhile, the sixth is still niggling away in the shape of ideas that want to get written down. And I really ought – some time – to try a hardcopy publisher again. One of these days…
